映画“マンデラの名もなき監守”をウェスタンの待ちの間にDVDで見た。
舞台は南アフリカ。ネルソン・マンデラは政治犯として孤島の刑務所に収監されていた。
地元黒人の言語コーサ語を話せることから、マンデラの監視係として任命された男は、彼の人間としての魅力に触れ、次第に考えを変えていく。
20年を超える長い物語。
マンデラの戦いは、当に時代との戦いだったんだなあと、痛感した。
無駄に泣いてしまった。
その勢いで、彼の大統領就任演説の一部をネットから拾ってきた。
日本人には馴染まない表現もあるけど、とにかく力強い。
これだけ語れる政治家、この国には、いないよなあ……。
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
